A Short History of the ACEM

Our 1st meeting was in Sheffield, at the Novotel, in July of 1998. This was the first time for many years, that clinical electron microscopists, mostly from the British Isles, had met together.

Since that time, ACEM has held an annual meeting as a satellite meeting of the Pathological Society of Great Britain and Northern Ireland each July. ACEM has become established as the professional body for clinical electron microscopists in the UK, although we have members from the Republic of Ireland, Europe and Australia.

We are involved in the dissemination of best practice, EQA (External Quality Assurance), and represent our membership on a number of government and professional bodies.
